Where is the Saint Martin?
Saint Martin's Island is located at the mouth of the Naff River, about 9 km south of Teknaf Upazila in Cox's Bazar, the southernmost district of Bangladesh. It is a strong island located in the north eastern part of the Bay of Bengal. The island is also known as Coconut Ginger because of the abundance of coconuts found in Saint Martin.
How to go to Saint Martin?
First you need to go to Teknaf.
If you want to go from Dhaka then many luxurious buses go directly to Teknaf. There are buses like Shyamoli, Hanif, Relax, St. Martin's Service, Green Line (AC) and many more.
If you want to go from Chittagong, a number of buses also go to the Saint Martin route from Chittagong, most notably S-Alam, Saudia.
If you want to travel from Cox's Bazar then CNG, private car or local bus can be taken to Teknaf. As there is no direct bus or CNG service to Saint Martin from Cox's Bazar so you should leave for Teknaf by 6 AM.
Once you arrive in Teknaf, there are several ships from Damdamiya Ghat which go directly to Saint Martin. These ships leave at 9:30 in the morning. It takes about 2:30 hours to reach the island from Damdamiya Ghat. The launches from Teknaf return from St. Martin around 3 PM.
What kind of food is available?
In terms of food, St. Martin's Hall is famous for Shrimp, Rupachanda, Coral, Hilsa, Lobster, Laita, and coconut. The coconut water here is as sweet as it is delicious.
How does it feel at day and night?
During the day in St. Martin, it seems as if the blue sky is covered with clear water. It's like getting lost in the vastness of the sea. In the light of day, standing on St. Martin's beach and keeping your eyes far away, the last obstacle is the clouds. In the solitude of the night, the echoes of the sea waves seemed to rise on all four sides. The small rippled waves let them know through words. One wave after another is crashing on the island. If you close your eyes at night and hear that roar, you will feel as if you are lost in the middle of the sea.
